Here is the first honest thing to know about Maine Coon prices: there is no such thing as "the" price, and anyone quoting you one number for the whole breed is averaging things that should never be averaged. What exists is real catteries and real listings, each with a name, a country and a date. So that is exactly what this page gives you, market by market, as of August 2026. Prices move; every figure here says where it came from.

What does a Maine Coon cost in the United States?
Three named catteries, their current price pages read directly in August 2026. No national average exists, and the blog figures that pretend otherwise disagree with the actual catteries and with each other.

What does a Maine Coon cost in the UK?
One live marketplace, Pets4Homes, sampled four separate times on the same August day. The steadiest fact across all four samples: registered kittens sell for roughly double to five times the price of unregistered ones, on the same site, the same day. The stale-price trap
The same marketplace's own evergreen breed page still says "£300 to over £500 for a well-bred kitten", three to four times below its own live listings. Static price copy goes stale everywhere, even on the site hosting the real numbers. Trust listings, dated; never summaries.
What does a Maine Coon cost in Canada?
Three named catteries, three regions, three bands that barely touch: we publish all three side by side and refuse the blended average. A real "typical Canadian price" would need about five catteries across provinces; three non-overlapping ones is not that.

What does a Maine Coon cost in Australia?
The clearest-framed market of the four: Maine Coon Manor's price guide explicitly describes the wider Australian market, and a second cattery's individual listings (Kingslee Park, at A$2,750 and A$3,000 with papers) sit comfortably inside it. The catteries we read charge nothing extra by color, a genuine difference from the US market.

The one figure a registry does publish, 's general "expect to pay between $300 and $1,500," is undated, not Maine-Coon-specific, and visibly out of date next to every cattery list above. When a listing says "priced per CFA guidelines," you now know there is no such thing.
The cheaper doors in
A breeder kitten is not the only route to this breed, and the alternatives are not second-best cats:
Retired breeding adults
US catteries list them at $200 to $2,000, and the Australian market guide puts them at A$800 to $2,000. An adult Maine Coon with its papers, already health-tested, at a fraction of kitten price.
Shelter adoption
fees are a different thing from a price, because they bundle veterinary work. Named examples, each with its bundle: Cats Protection (UK) charges £100 to £120 for kittens including vaccination, microchip, neutering or a voucher, and four weeks of insurance. Toronto Humane Society: CA$300 for kittens, no tax. RSPCA New South Wales: A$270 for kittens including , microchip, vaccination and a health check. US shelters run roughly $50 to $175 per the 's own figures. A purebred Maine Coon in a shelter is rare; a magnificent half-guess is not.
What a Maine Coon costs per year, once it is home
