What kind of home would the cat live in?

Some breeds do great indoors, others really need room to roam.

The idea

How does it work?

Choosing a breed isn't falling for a cute face: it's matching a cat's temperament to your daily life. The quiz handles that in three steps.

Step 1

You answer

Ten questions about your home, your routine, your kids and what you're hoping for. Two minutes, no sign-up.

Step 2

We compute

Each answer adjusts a score against the real data of our breed profiles. Nothing is random.

Step 3

Your ranking

The most compatible breeds, with the percentage, why each breed made the list, and what to watch out for.

The criteria we factor in

  • Your housing type and apartment living
  • Time spent alone during the day
  • Young children at home
  • Living with a dog or another cat
  • The temperament you're after (cuddly, calm, playful)
  • How much chattiness you can take
  • Allergies and shedding
  • Grooming time and budget

Frequently asked questions

Is the breed quiz free?

Yes, completely free and with no sign-up. You can retake it as many times as you like, changing your answers as you go.

What is the result based on?

On every breed profile we publish, scored on temperament (energy, affection, independence, noise tolerance) and on compatibility with children, other pets and apartment living. The quiz matches your answers against those criteria.

Can a single breed really be right for me?

Rarely 100 percent. That's why we show a ranking with a compatibility percentage and, for each breed, what to watch out for. The idea is to inform you, not to decide for you.

Does the result guarantee my future cat's personality?

No. A breed gives tendencies, never guarantees: upbringing, socialization and each cat's own history matter just as much. Also consider shelter adoption, where plenty of cats are waiting for a family.

Do I need an account to see my result?

No, the result shows up immediately. You can then have it emailed to you if you like, along with our newsletter for cat lovers.
