Refunds

Refunds, honestly

Short version: a subscription can be cancelled at any time, and an ebook is final once you have downloaded it. The long version is below, including the cases where we refund you whatever this page says, because the law says so and we would rather you knew.

Ebooks and other downloads

An ebook is delivered the moment you pay. At checkout you are asked to confirm two things: that you want immediate access, and that you understand this ends the 14-day right to change your mind that would otherwise apply in the European Union and the United Kingdom. Once you have confirmed that and the file is available to you, the purchase is final.

The reason is not a trick, and it is the same one every publisher of digital files runs into. A PDF cannot be handed back. Once it has been downloaded it can be kept, copied and shared, so a refund would mean giving the money back and the file staying where it is.

You will always be told the price and the format before you pay, and every ebook page says exactly what is inside it, how many pages, and which print sizes are included. If something is not clear, ask us before buying rather than after.

Three cases where you get your money back anyway

These are not exceptions we grant out of goodwill. They are rights, and nothing written on this page can remove them.

  • The file is faulty, or not what we described. If it will not download, arrives corrupted, is missing pages, or is not the thing the page said it was, that is our problem to fix and we will fix it, by replacing the file or refunding you. In Australia this is a consumer guarantee that cannot be excluded by any wording a seller chooses, and the United Kingdom and the European Union carry parallel rights.
  • You did not agree to immediate access. If you are in the European Union, the European Economic Area, Switzerland or the United Kingdom and you did not tick the box asking for the file straight away, your 14-day right to withdraw stands and we will honour it.
  • Paddle decides otherwise. Our payments are handled by Paddle, which is the seller of record for your purchase. Paddle may grant a refund at its own discretion within 14 days of a transaction, case by case. We do not control that decision and we are not going to pretend we do.

Subscriptions

Cancel whenever you like, from your own account page, without writing to anyone and without giving a reason. Your access then runs to the end of the period you have already paid for, and nothing renews after that.

We do not refund a period that is already running. If you cancel in the middle of a month you keep the month; if you cancel in the middle of an annual subscription you keep the year. That is the trade for the annual plan giving you two months free.

In the European Union, the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, the first payment of a subscription carries a 14-day right to withdraw, unless you asked at checkout to start using the paid features immediately. In the United Kingdom that right also applies when an annual subscription renews.

And if we got it wrong, we fix it. Charged twice, charged after you cancelled, charged for a tier you did not choose: that is not a refund request, it is a mistake, and it gets corrected. Write to us and say what happened.

Ebooks included with a subscription

An annual Feast subscription includes one ebook per subscription year, and the other tiers get a standing discount. An ebook you received that way costs nothing, so there is nothing to refund on it. Cancelling your subscription later does not take the file back from you: it is yours.

How to ask

Write to hello@feedmehooman.com with the email address you paid with and what happened. We read everything and we answer. If your request is one Paddle has to decide, we say so and we tell you how to reach them rather than leaving you to guess.
