The polls

The great cat debates, settled by majority vote. One vote per member, live results, hot takes welcome (encouraged, even, on Cookie's topics).

Your answers feed our articles: when a guide cites "most of our members", one of these polls is speaking, never an invented number.

Suggest a poll

A question you're dying to ask a whole community of cat lovers? Send it in: if it's picked, the editorial team turns it into a poll and you'll get an email.

Our method

One vote per signed-in member, locked at the database level: no ballot stuffing possible. Results show to those who voted, and they're the real counts, no rounding up, no head start. When a poll is cited in an article, so are its date and voter count. And if a result doesn't suit us, we cite it anyway: that's the whole point.

Frequently asked questions

Who can vote in the polls?

Signed-in members only, with one vote per poll per person: that's what makes the results reliable. Creating an account is free, no password needed.

What are the poll results used for?

They feed our articles with real numbers: when a guide says most of our members sleep with their cat, that's the matching poll speaking, never an invented figure. Results appear once you've voted: you vote first, then you see the numbers. And we hold ourselves to a floor: a poll is only ever quoted as a percentage in an article once it has passed 100 votes, always with the number of voters and the date beside it. Below that the result stays on this page, where you can see for yourself how many people have answered.

Can I suggest a poll?

Yes: the "Suggest a poll" form is at the bottom of this page, open to members who have set a username and a profile photo. If your question is picked, the editorial team turns it into a poll, it joins its theme, and you get an email.
