Persian Cat Price: What Five Named Catteries Actually Charge
$1,200 to $3,500 pet-tier from named US catteries, a 72-listing UK sample, a genuine Canadian overlap, an unexplained Australian gap, and the fake CFA price quote we caught.

One correction before any figure, because it poisons the SERP: a widely-read price article attributes its range to "the Cat Fanciers' Association", and 's own page carries no price at all. No registry publishes a Persian price schedule. What exists is named catteries and live samples, and here they are, read 16-17 August 2026.
United States: $1,200 to $3,500 pet-tier, and a ladder above
The pet-tier cluster across five named catteries: Kitty Cature (Texas, ) at $1,200-1,500; Rocky Mountain Persians (Colorado, CFA) at $1,500-2,000, "most in the $1,500-1,700 range"; Pelaqita Persians at a sourced $1,500-3,000 with the honest regional note that east-coast prices read higher than midwestern ones; Priceless Persian Kittens (Michigan, CFA) at $1,800-3,500; and Doll Face Persian Kittens (Missouri) opening at $3,500 and rising past $10,000 for keeper-quality kittens. Two structural premiums recur: RARE COLOURS (Rocky Mountain names calico, blue cream, and patch tabby & white as its dearer coats), and the FACE: a flat-faced show-eligible kitten runs $500-1,500 over its doll-faced littermate, the direction most buyers guess wrong (the face guide explains why).
The coat-length rule that saves buyers money
At every cattery selling both, in two markets, the Exotic Shorthair (the Persian's short-coated sibling) costs LESS than the Persian, attributed by the catteries themselves to grooming overhead. If you want the face without the daily comb, the cheaper cat is also the easier one, a rare alignment.
United Kingdom: the live sample versus the site's claim
A 72-listing Pets4Homes sample (16/08/2026) ran £100 to £1,499, while the site's own FAQ claims £800-4,000: we publish the live sample as the market and the FAQ as the site's prose. One data point worth its caveat: a Himalayan-point kitten appeared well below the registered- cluster, one listing, not a rule. Below £400, listings in the sample rarely named a registry.
Canada: a genuine overlap for once
Three provinces, one consistent band: CA$1,500-2,500 (Furrari, Heart'nsoul and peers), with Heart'nsoul's Himalayan-pointed kittens called out separately at CA$1,600-1,900. After the scattered Canadian pictures on our other breeds, the Persian's Canadian market is unusually legible.
Australia: a real, unexplained gap
Two named NSW catteries, one four-fold gap: KOROKAT Persians (Sydney, NSWCFA-registered, 17 years) at AU$800-1,000, Meowlody at AU$2,500-4,500, and neither page explains the difference. We caption it rather than average it: the market has a budget lane and a premium lane, and your questions to each breeder (registry, testing, inclusions) are how you find out which lane you are in.
Adoption, kept apart
Purebred Persians do reach rescue more than most breeds (coat neglect is the sad usual reason); fees are general-cat bundles: about $100-500 US, £100-120 Cats Protection, CA$300 Toronto Humane, A$270 RSPCA NSW. An adopted adult Persian plus a groomer's first visit is many households' best Persian deal.
Four markets on one card (named sources, 16-17/08/2026)
| Market | Published figures | Shape of the market |
|---|---|---|
| United States | $1,200-3,500 pet-tier (5 named catteries); keeper tier $10,000+ | Face premium +$500-1,500 flat-face; rare colors named |
| United Kingdom | £100-1,499 (72-listing live sample) | The site's own £800-4,000 FAQ had no live listing behind its ceiling |
| Canada | CA$1,500-2,500, three provinces in overlap | Himalayan-pointed kittens CA$1,600-1,900 listed separately |
| Australia | AU$800-1,000 or AU$2,500-4,500 | Two NSW lanes, gap unexplained by either cattery's page |

Frequently asked questions
How much does a Persian cat cost?
Pet-tier from named US catteries (August 2026): $1,200-3,500, with show and breeder tiers to $10,000+. UK live sample £100-1,499; Canada CA$1,500-2,500 (a genuine three-province overlap); Australia AU$800-1,000 or AU$2,500-4,500 depending on the cattery lane.
Did CFA publish a Persian price range?
No: the widely-copied "CFA" price quote traces to a pet-content article, and CFA's own page carries no price. No registry prices this breed.
Which Persian colors cost more?
One Colorado cattery names its premium coats: calico, blue cream, tortoiseshell and patch tabby & white. The bigger premium is the face: flat-faced show-eligible kittens run $500-1,500 over doll-faced littermates.
Is an Exotic Shorthair cheaper than a Persian?
Yes, at every cattery we read that sells both, in two markets: the breeders themselves credit the lower grooming overhead. Same face, shorter coat, smaller bill.

Medical information applies to every reader. Prices, legal duties and common practice do not: unless stated otherwise, they are given for the United States, and they differ in the UK, Canada and Australia, and often between states or provinces. Check with your own vet and your own local authority.
