Persian Cat Names: The Data First, Then the Fun
Princess, Precious and Chloe lead the only real dataset, plus name ideas that fit a cat whose whole brand is composure: royal, silky, vintage and Persian-language picks.

One real dataset exists for breed-specific cat names and we use it site-wide with its labels on: Vetstreet's 2015 study of US registered names, in which the Persian ranked No. 2 among the then-top-ten breeds for name distinctiveness. The Persian's actual leaders: PRINCESS, PRECIOUS and CHLOE for females; GIZMO, SMOKEY and MAX for males. A decade old, US-only, and still the only measured answer to what Persian owners really choose: royalty for the queens, comfort for the kings.
Names that fit the brand
The breed's whole presence suggests its own registers. ROYAL: Duchess, Pasha, Sultan, Reign, Empress: the cat already behaves like the title holder. SILK AND SMOKE: Velvet, Cashmere, Misty, Sable, Pearl: coat names for the fancy's biggest coat. VINTAGE: Winston, Mabel, Theodore, Josephine: the 1900s show-bench era this breed headlined wears well on it. And PERSIAN-LANGUAGE picks with real meanings: Shirin (sweet), Darya (sea), Kian (king), Laleh (tulip), Roxana (bright star): the breed's name points at a language full of good cat names, even if Persian-speakers themselves, as our history page notes, never called the breed "Persian cat".
Naming a Persian in practice
The practical rules are the site's usual three: two syllables carry across a house better than one, avoid soundalikes with your other pets and household commands, and test the shortlist out loud for a day: the name you keep saying is the name. The one Persian-specific note: this breed will not come when called any faster whatever you choose, and its composure makes stately names age better than joke names: Princess still fits at twelve; Fluffzilla may not.

Frequently asked questions
What are the most popular Persian cat names?
Per the one measured dataset (Vetstreet 2015, US): Princess, Precious and Chloe for females; Gizmo, Smokey and Max for males. The royalty theme is real and measured.
What should I name a white Persian?
The coat suggests Pearl, Ivory, Blanche, Ghost or Neige: and the white page's three-way eye colors (blue, copper, odd) have inspired more than one Odd and Copper.
What are good Persian-language cat names?
Shirin (sweet), Darya (sea), Kian (king), Laleh (tulip), Roxana (bright star): real names with real meanings from the language the breed's name borrows.
Is Garfield a Persian name source?
The orange icon's breed is an unresolved fan theory our history page treats honestly: name yours Garfield freely, claim the pedigree never.

This is information, not veterinary advice, and it cannot tell you what is wrong with your cat. Our rule is a simple one: if something is wrong with your cat, call your vet, and call an emergency clinic if it is out of hours. Nothing you read here is a reason to wait.
Medical information applies to every reader. Prices, legal duties and common practice do not: unless stated otherwise, they are given for the United States, and they differ in the UK, Canada and Australia, and often between states or provinces. Check with your own vet and your own local authority.
