LaPerm Price: What the Curly Cat Costs, and Where Prices Actually Exist

The LaPerm market has one properly priced country and three honest gaps, and this page keeps them separate. Along the way, our research caught two fake price pages of a kind worth showing you how to spot. For a breed this thin, most of what Google returns about its price is template filler. The breed behind the figures lives on our LaPerm profile.

United Kingdom: the one real market

£400 to £1,000 is the platform's own stated UK range, with a live listing to anchor it. At our check, Pets4Homes carried one live LaPerm litter at £900 (13 weeks, London), and its own FAQ states the breed "typically costs between £400 and £1,000". A second listing on another platform (£250, a five-week-old kitten from a private seller) sits well under that range, for exactly the reasons its own text suggests: no registration mentioned, and an age no responsible breeder rehomes at. The UK also has the breed's real infrastructure. The LaPerm Cat Club's breeder list is the honest starting point, and GCCF grants the breed full championship status.

United States: one figure, and it is not a kitten price

The US market produced exactly ONE dollar figure anywhere our research could reach: $400 for "Luke LaPerm", a seven-year-old adult rehoming in Alabama, explicitly not a kitten price, single-source in bold. Behind that: purpose-built collection pages with genuinely zero products, a breeder-locator page whose raw payload still contains an unfilled "{breed}" template token, and the LaPerm Society of America's own kitten page last updated somewhere in the 2004-2009 range. The US invented this breed and appears to have almost stopped selling it. Expect breed-club networking and patience, not listings.

Canada: a genuine, checked zero

No Canadian price exists: six sources checked, two explicit zero-result confirmations, one cattery page stating all kittens already placed, and one directory pointing back at that same cattery. Canada's national registry (CCA-AFC) does not recognize the breed at all, our project's strongest-converged registry absence. That makes a thin market thinner: a Canadian buyer is realistically importing.

Australia: the two fake prices we caught

No genuine Australian figure exists, and the two candidates disqualified themselves. One "price guide" page turned out to be AI-drafted, with a leaked instruction line still sitting in its own published text. Another directory page printed a literal unfilled "[breed]" placeholder where the breed name should be.

Both are named here because they are the exact shape of price content this breed attracts: templated pages quoting a "$500 to $1,000" style range no market ever produced. The country's two live marketplaces were Cloudflare-walled on every door our research tries. So Australia is blocked-not-empty, and the registries (ACF, ANCATS) do recognize the breed, so a real market may exist behind the walls. We publish no number for it.

How to read a LaPerm listing anywhere

Three rules this market rewards. First, registration papers or it is a curly-coated domestic: rex-like coats occur in random-bred cats, and at these volumes lookalikes outnumber pedigrees in classifieds. Second, be suspicious of any page quoting a tidy round price range for this breed in the US, Canada or Australia. Our research could not confirm one, and the two pages that tried hardest were templates. Third, scarcity is not urgency. A thin market means waitlists and conversations with the breed clubs, never a reason to rush a deposit to whoever answers first.
