Snowshoe Cat Price: Four Markets, Honestly Counted

The Snowshoe's market is small enough to count by hand, and this page does: named catteries with their own published structures, live marketplace samples, one country with no price for a structural reason, and another with exactly four breeders. Nothing below is converted between currencies or averaged across markets.

United States: two structures and a marketplace

Two named catteries publish genuinely different pricing. Blue Eyes Cattery (Maryland) charges a flat, all-inclusive $3,500, not broken out by point pattern, across litters that include Snowshoe among several colourpoint patterns bred together. Snowshoe Cattery runs a two-tier structure at $1,500 and $1,800 (the higher tier for odd-eyed kittens, per its own page). Below the cattery tier, a ten-listing live marketplace sample (GoKitty) clusters $350 to $1,000, tagged "Household Pet": a visibly different population from the named catteries' registered stock, and priced like it.

United Kingdom: the cleanest figure in this file

Two independent sources land on the identical number: a named breeder's own page and a live marketplace listing both price a purebred, registered Snowshoe kitten at £950 (the breeder's own structure adds £1,250 for active/breeding registration). Separately, two crossbred listings cluster £200 to £220, distinctly below the purebred line: the purebred/crossbred split is our own observation across sources, stated as such. The breed club's own breeder list carries four names, one of them a dead domain, which is a first-party measure of how small this market is.

Canada: no price, for a structural reason

We found no Canadian price signal from any named cattery, and the reason is not a search failure: CCA-AFC, Canada's national registry, does not recognize the Snowshoe as a breed at all, confirmed on two of its own pages (the breeders search offers no Snowshoe option, and the standards index carries no Snowshoe standard). The only Canadian listings we reached were marketplace results where more than half were not purebred Snowshoes. If you are buying in Canada, expect to import from a US TICA cattery or buy unregistered, and price accordingly.

Australia: exactly four breeders, two sources agree

Australia's market is the most precisely counted anywhere: a breeder's own homepage states "only four active breeders here in Australia," and an independent directory's count matches. The one published price is from Skiboots Snowshoes (Victoria's first registered Snowshoe breeder): A$1,800 to A$2,200, most kittens at A$2,000, kittens homed desexed, chipped, vaccinated and registered. One honesty flag the page itself forces: that price list is dated 01/09/2023 on its own page, nearly three years before our read, so treat it as the best available primary figure, not a confirmed current one.

What the price should buy

Registration papers in a recognizing registry (TICA or GCCF territory, given Canada's gap), the pedigree showing three clean generations (the thing that actually makes a Snowshoe a Snowshoe, as our identification page explains), a written health guarantee, and a visit. In a market with four breeders on a continent, the waiting list IS the market; a suspiciously instant kitten deserves suspicious questions.
