One disambiguation first, because the search results force it. There is a cryptocurrency memecoin using this breed's name, and nothing on this page concerns it. This page prices the cat. The cat's market is real, small, and honest about it: named catteries with published structures in the US and Australia, a waiting-list economy in Britain, and exactly one named cattery in Canada.

Australia's two named breeders

United States: four catteries, four different answers

The named-cattery spread runs $700 to $1,700, and the four do not agree, which IS the honest picture. Cosmic Spots (Media, PA): show-quality from around $1,700, $500 deposit. KezKatz (Keota, OK): pet kittens $700 to $1,000, breeding rights $500 on top, flat $400 shipping. Purrfurdots (Waynesboro, PA): a flat $700.

That page's own date reads "effective January 1, 2020" and has not been re-dated since, flagged as possibly stale. Midnite Moon (Ohio): a flat $800, $100 deposit. Two more named catteries publish no figure and route buyers to direct contact. And both live US marketplaces we checked returned ZERO Ocicat listings on the day: this is a breeder-direct market, not a marketplace one.

United Kingdom: a waiting-list economy

Pets4Homes returned zero live Ocicat listings, and its own breed page explains why in its own words: "upwards of £250 for a well-bred kitten," with waiting lists because "not many well-bred kittens are registered with the every year." The one live listing found anywhere (UKPets, Norwich, £250) carries no registry language and reads as the low, unpapered end. UKPets' own guide range, £250 to £500, brackets it. Two named GCCF catteries (St-Elmo in Suffolk, Thor's Oak in Essex) are confirmed real and current. Expect to register interest, not to click buy.

Canada: one cattery, precisely dated

Exactly one named Canadian cattery was reached with a current price: Shinkara Abyssins et Ocicats (Hemmingford, Quebec, -registered, breeding since 1995), a flat CA$2,500, its page dated 15 May 2026. The aggregator ranges circulating online all read BELOW the one real figure, which tells you what aggregator ranges are worth. Six further Canadian directories and marketplaces produced no second cattery. A Quebec directory names Shinkara as the province's only one.

Australia: two named breeders, and a real scene

Zayenah Ocicats (Adelaide): desexed pet or show-neuter kittens at a flat A$2,800, shipped Australia-wide. Jasmarez Ocicats (Elizabeth North, SA): A$2,000 on the one live marketplace listing found, with the cattery cross-confirmed as real through another breeder's own news posts. A third cattery (Sunchaser, WA) is active but publishes no price. A general guide range (A$1,800 to A$3,500) brackets both named figures.

What a real cattery price includes

The named catteries' own conditions show what the money buys: spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, a written health guarantee, registration, and sometimes starter insurance. That bundle is the difference between a $700 cattery kitten and a £250 listing with no registry language. It is the checklist to ask any seller to walk through.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an Ocicat cost?

US: $700 to $1,700 across four named catteries. UK: from £250 with waiting lists the norm. Canada: the one named cattery charges CA$2,500. Australia: A$2,000 to A$2,800 from two named breeders.

Why can't I find Ocicat listings on marketplaces?

Because the breed sells breeder-direct: both live US marketplaces and the UK's biggest listing site returned zero Ocicats on our research date. Waiting lists, not shopping carts.

Is the Ocicat cryptocurrency related to the cat?

No: a memecoin borrowed the name. Nothing on this page or this site concerns it.

Do rare Ocicat colors cost more?

No registry recognizes a color premium, and the named catteries price by pet-versus-show quality, not color. The most-searched coat (chocolate silver) costs what the cattery's tier says, as our colors page explains.

Are Ocicats rare?

Outside the US, genuinely: zero marketplace listings in three countries, one Canadian cattery, and a handful of named Australian breeders. Inside the US, findable with patience and a deposit.

This is information, not veterinary advice, and it cannot tell you what is wrong with your cat. Our rule is a simple one: if something is wrong with your cat, call your vet, and call an emergency clinic if it is out of hours. Nothing you read here is a reason to wait.

Medical information applies to every reader. Prices, legal duties and common practice do not: unless stated otherwise, they are given for the United States, and they differ in the UK, Canada and Australia, and often between states or provinces. Check with your own vet and your own local authority.
