Cornish Rex Kittens for Sale: What They Cost in Four Markets

The Cornish Rex market is small enough that we could read essentially all of it: the named catteries with public prices, two full UK marketplace samples, all sixteen Canadian listings live on the day we looked, and every Australian door there is. Four markets, four genuinely different price structures, and one market whose structure is publishing no price at all. Here is what we found, source by source, with the usual house rule: a converted figure is never a price, so each market speaks its own currency.

United States: from $950 flat to $3,500 tiered

The named-cattery spread is wide and structured. At the top, O'Rex Cattery prices its kittens "$2,500-$3,500, depending on their type and rarity," the only US cattery we found stating an explicit rarity tier. In the middle, Myers Cornish Dynasty lists named kittens at $1,000 to $1,200 each. And two catteries publish one flat price for every kitten on the page: $1,300 at one, $950 at another, every kitten the same age, with buy-style buttons; we note that checkout-shaped pattern as a structural caution when you shop, not an accusation. Several established catteries publish no price at all and quote by inquiry.

Above all of it floats one import broker listing a single kitten at $5,300: an outlier from an overseas supply chain, not part of the US cattery range, and we do not fold it in. Guide sites quote $800 to $2,500 depending on quality tier, which brackets the named-cattery reality reasonably well. Rescue fees, where a Cornish Rex ever appears in rescue, run far lower, but an adoption fee is not the breed's price.

United Kingdom: two live marketplaces agree

The UK gives the cleanest read, from two independent marketplaces sampled the same day. Pets4Homes carried four kitten listings at £500 to £1,200; UKPets carried five at £400 to £1,250, clustering £850 to £1,050. Both samples also held retired or rehomed adults at £250 to £400, which we keep out of the kitten range on principle: a retired breeding adult is a different, cheaper, wonderful thing. The breed club's own kitten list names five member catteries and no prices, and several of its linked cattery sites no longer resolve at all: in this breed, the live marketplaces are the UK price record.

Canada: the marketplace is the only source with numbers

The registry's five listed Cornish Rex catteries publish no prices, and one Ontario cattery states only its $300 deposit across both its site and its own sales contract. The actual figures live on Kijiji: of the sixteen Cornish Rex results live on our reading day, eight were genuinely priced kitten or litter listings, from $800 to $1,500, clustering $800 to $1,000, most of them in Quebec. The other eight were rehomes, stud posts and one entire cattery for sale: a reminder that half a marketplace's "kittens for sale" page is not kittens for sale.

One trap worth naming because you will meet it: CCA-AFC, the Canadian registry, has a page literally titled "Price List." It is a registration fee schedule ($44 to register a litter), not kitten prices. No registry anywhere publishes what a kitten costs.

Australia: no published price exists, and that is the finding

We read eight distinct Australian sources through every door available: breeder directories in three states, the registries' breeder pages, and the named catteries' own sites. Not one publishes a price, and on the largest directory, five separate catteries carry the identical line "Contact Breeder for pricing." That is not a research gap, it is the market's structure: Australian Cornish Rex breeders quote privately, full stop. If you are shopping in Australia, budget from the inclusions lists breeders do publish (vaccination, microchip, desexing, registration, insurance are standard) and get the figure by inquiry; any site quoting you "the Australian Cornish Rex price" invented it.

The buyer's checklist, this breed specifically

The paperwork questions for a Cornish Rex are the usual ones plus two breed-specific tests worth asking about: the parents' rdAc-PRA DNA status (GCCF has made testing mandatory in the UK since June 2022) and, for a white kitten, a BAER hearing certificate (mandatory for UK breeding whites). Deposits in this breed run $300 to $500 and are typically non-refundable; kittens should not leave before 12 weeks by registry recommendation. And a flat same-price-for-every-kitten page with checkout buttons deserves one extra phone call before any money moves.
